A Pagan Ritual: Live At The Cabooze 1983 features the original 5 piece Suburbs lineup and was culled from a two night stand in 1983. The pristine analog live recordings were captured courtesy of Paul Stark and Steve Fjelstad and the infamous Stark/Mudge mobile recording unit that was also notably pressed into service for Credit in Heaven and The Replacements' Hootenanny album. Stark - one of the partners at Twin/Tone, the label responsible for the earliest releases of The Suburbs, Soul Asylum, The Replacements and many other key artists - has done yeoman's duty preserving and digitizing the Twin'Tone assets over the years. The multitrack recordings for this show (and others...) sat in the vaults for over 4 decades before the stars aligned and A Pagan Ritual: Live At The Cabooze 1983 finally saw the light of day. The 12 songs here (6 from In Combo, 5 from Credit in Heaven and "Waiting," their 1982 smash club hit) are presented with a superb sonic sheen that perfectly captures the moment with palpable "almost like you were there" quality.
